The railway children by Edith Nesbit
Summary of each chapter:
Chapter 1: This story is about 3 children called Roberta (usually called Bobbie), Peter and Phylis and in this chapter they lived in London with their parents until some gentleman took father away, so they had to went out of the city and live in the country near a railway station.
Chapter 2: At this chapter the kids met the house and they went for the first time to the railway station. They went because in their house there wasn´t coal for the fire, so Peter took coal of the heap that was on te railway and the station master caught him, but Peter told him that they were poor, so he apologize the kids.
Chapter 3: The children went every day to the station and they always wave at the train of 9:15, so they met an old gentleman that always waved them back and they also met the porter called Perks. One day, mother get ill so they called the Dr. Forest and he said mom to buy a lot of medicines, but they were poor, so the children ask the old gentleman to bought that medicines and he bought them.
Chapter 4: Mother get well and the children sent another letter to the old gentleman. Then, it was Bobbie´s birthday and Phyllis, Peter and mother give her presents. Peter gave her his engine, but only a half. Then Roberta went to the train to ask if someone can fix her engine, but she felt onto a heap of coal and the train began to move. Then two people watch her and said her that they can fix her little train. then she took Peter to saw their engine and he was very surprised.
Chapter 5: The children were walking by the fence along the top of the hill beside the railway line when they heard a noise that start coming louder and louder and then they knew that the railway came crashing down in a big heap. The kids discovered that the 11.29 train will pass right there, so they cut their petticoats in six and made six red flags. Bobbi ran onto the line waved her flags. The train stopped and the kids saved a lot of lifes. Then the railway company thank them and the old gentleman gave them a gold watch for everyone.
Chapter 6: After saving the train, the kids organized Perks birthday. They asked her mother to give him a cake and she said yes, so the children went to ask to the village and all the people gave them presents for Perks. There was a pipe, a tin of tea and a walking stick. The children went to Perks house and gave him the presents but at first he don´t want to receive them and the children convinced him that it wasn´t charity, so Perks tank them so much.
Chapter 7: In this chapter Bobbie founded a newspaper with terrible news. The name of her father was at the newspaper and it says: "FIVE YEARS IN PRISION FOR SPY!". Then mother talked to her and she said that he is not guilty, so Bobbie sent a letter to the old gentleman asking for help to find the real spy.
Chapter 8: One day, the children went to the railway and saw a lot of kids going into the tunnel, so they went to the other side to watch how they get out, but there isn´t one kid that enter but he didn´t get out. Then they went in and saw this kid called Jim with a big injury so Peter and Phyllis went for sme help.The children take Jim to their house and their mother helped him. Then they sent a letter to Jim´s grandfather, so he went to their house and the children saw that Jim´s grandfather was their own old gentleman. Then Bobbie and the old gentleman talked and he said that he is searching for his father.
Chaper 9: The children get borried in their house because they never went to saw the railway again, so they went the next morning at 9.15. They waved as always to the old gentleman but now, all the people at the train start waving. That was very strange so Bobbie went to ask Perks and at the exactly moment a train arrives, and in this train there was their father. The old gentleman had achieved.
